Ferrari 308 GT4

The Ferrari 308 GT4 is the precursor to every mid-engined V8 Ferrari up to the current 458 Italia.

Bertone’s bold, angular car was the successor to Pininfarina’s svelte Ferrari Dino 246 GT, and with a transverse-mounted engine, the design allowed for a 2+2 seating layout.

Ferrari’s 308 GT4 is a wonderful car to drive, with a flexible 3.0-litre Ferrari V8 and fully independent suspension, which allows for fast, relaxed and comfortable progress.

This particular Ferrari 308 GT4 - chassis s/n 13872 - is a lovely example, finished in red (Rosso Corsa), with black (Nero) hide, navy blue velour seat centres and black carpets. The Ferrari also has its original Philips Turnolock radio/cassette stereo, air-conditioning, electric windows and correct 14-inch Cromodora alloy wheels.

This Ferrari 308 GT4 was first registered on 22 November 1977 to a property planning company in Southwark, London, believed to be kept in the possession of one of the company directors. In February 1982 the Ferrari was sold on to a private owner in Brockenhurst, Hampshire. By this time the 308 GT4 had been enjoyed regularly, with the odometer recording around 55000 miles from new. The dates and mileages of the services with the first owner are recorded in the Ferrari’s history file.

The next registered keeper of this Ferrari 308 GT4 added less than 1000 miles to the total, selling the GT4 on in September 1991 to another Hampshire resident who lived in Southampton.

This Ferrari 308 GT4 has been kept in storage since the early 1990s, and as such only a few hundred miles have been driven in that time. As the car had been sat for some time, it has just been subjected to a comprehensive recommissioning by Foskers.

This work included a cambelt replacement and full service, rebuilt calipers and fresh brake pads, refurbished shock absorbers, replacement water pump, carburettor tuning, new ignition leads and manifold gaskets, and fluid and filter changes.

308 GT4 chassis number 13872 is now ready to drive and enjoy once again. We have sold more Ferrari 308 GT4s in the last year than anyone else, and this particular car - now showing 56500 miles from new - is another great example.
