Set to be reinvented for the 2020s in EV form, the Jaguar XJ is the quintessential British luxury saloon. Not as opulent as anything from Bentley or Rolls-Royce, but boasting an array of talents to make it a compelling exec across the globe.
The most recent X351 generation was the XJ really in its pomp, and the perfect era for the model to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Ditching the stuffy, generic styling of what had come before, the XJ became a bold, progressive, exciting luxury four-door - and it remained so for the entirety of its production run, nothing ever quite matching its visual appeal.
As the last Jaguar XJ to feature internal combustion, the X351 went out with a good roster of powerplants, too. From frugal diesels to tarmac scorching V8s, there was something for everyone in the range. One day it seems the ‘351 will be remembered as one of the greats of British car design and manufacture; until then it continues to depreciate. A good XJR can now be yours, all 550 thunderous horsepower of it, for less than £25,000
