Aside from the comfortable Recaro front seats, perhaps the most notable feature of the
EP3 Civic Type R
is the gear lever, set high in the centre console. It is perfectly position and has the added appeal of a titanium gear knob. The rest of the centre console is simple and uncluttered, as are the main dials that have white faces with red script and needles ahead of the Momo steering wheel.
Remember air-con isn't standard on all cars!
EP3 Type R
s have twin front airbags, electric front windows and a CD stereo in the UK. However, air conditioning was an optional extra when new and desirable now for anyone looking to use the car year-round.
Simon Kearn says: "Seat wear on the bolsters is normal, while door handle inserts become scratched and can be DIY sprayed to sort this. Another point is to make sure the electric windows work smoothly."
Otherwise, the EP3 Civic Type R offers space for four adults, a large boot and Isofix child seat mounts to make it as practical as the standard three-door model it's based on.
PHer's view:
"Front seats are the business - very comfortable and supportive and they look great. A shame the rear bench is not as good to look at. Why doesn't every car have the gear lever mount so high and close to the steering wheel? It makes perfect sense."
