I posted in another thread yesterday about nottingham OPC having an 03/03 996TT in cobalt blue, 19k miles. Yesterday it was up for £37991. Today they've put the price up by over a grand.
Why?

If you are looking at cars at the very bottom of the market I really dont think a 911 is for that person, end of story. Yes they can pick up a Turbo for £30k, but when something goes on it in the first 6 months (and it will) I will be the first person to say I told you so Its good to visit here in my lunch and actually read interesting threads again! Er, why am I posting this in here..........................

Pretty quiet on this thread. I guess it's not so much about discussing the topic than finding an excuse to open a thread that get folks going...

Absolutely astounding the amount of people on here who think the forums exist just for them.

How many of you have given up reading the newspapers, watching/listening to the broadcast news, and restricted to one room (in work and play areas) all discussion about how economic conditions have affected (positively or negatively) your passions over the past year? Whilst I see that not all threads are interesting to all, I think the suggestion that allowed different threads with an icon denoting money has merit. Anyway, maybe it is too early to say how well this sticky will work. So let's see what happens.

And working in the spirit of that which was intended for this thread, here's my first contribution: businesswire.com said: Porsche Reports November Sales in U.S.Challenging Sales Environment Continues ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States, today announced November sales in the U.S. of 1,378 units compared to the same period last year when it sold a near record-setting 2,662. The dramatic downturn in the car market, including luxury brands, shows no sign of recovery with Porsche’s November sales barely equaling its October result of 1,427 just one month ago. Through eleven months, Porsche’s year-to-date U.S. sales were 23,881 versus 31,802 in 2007, a decline of 25 percent. For the month of November, Porsche’s Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle sales were 418, compared to 584 for the same period last year. http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/home/perma... Full table is in the above URL. So the new product launch has helped, but nowhere near enough. 987 series cars have dropped sharply, perhaps in anticipation of the new DFi-engined cars (or maybe that customer segment has been very badly hit recently). Used car sales, however, are up on the year (even if down on the previous November's figures)! So that's good news for the Indies if this can be extrapolated to the UK environment. I'll add another post when the UK figures come out (due soon, in the next week or so). Los Angeles, Dazren, this will be why they cut production so late - they probably didn't anticipate such a mighty decline (48% in November) as occurred in the very key US market, and that decline represents a worsening environment for them despite the new product launch of the Gen2 997.

Why? Wonder how many cars they are going to sell from Nottm OPC in December? Fancy a bet? 1-2. 3-4. none? How much do they make per resale, and how long before we see consolidation and cutbacks from OPC on dealerships within 20-30 miles of each other scrapping over same customer base? Not long me thinks.

Just been on Porsche Official Used car site, did a basic Turbo search, and for first time have seen 'Price on Application' in the price field.....on 15 cars! Get in there with the stupid offers now - times ARE hard!

Prices will continue to be hard for the next 1/4 at least. People have just realised and accepted now that we are in this siutation and the rules of the game have changed from what has been default for the last few years.
As for what price a car is worth, well we are all looking at losing upto £5k in the next 1/4. Deal with it.

Porsche new car sales in the UK for November down 57%.
Year to date new car sales down 30%.
Overall market down circa 30% for the month, and down 10% for the year to date. A lot of very red data. Audi holding up well (down only 10% for the month).
Data sourced from SMMT site.
