Hi guys. Just bought a new set of rears for my 111R. The old ones have about 5500 miles on them with about 1-1.5mm left to the wear indicators. Is this the usual lift expectancy?

I have managed to squeeze 12k out of a set of rears, about 20k from the fronts. 5.5k out of rears? Wow! That is a stunning amount of abuse! ... Especially as the first 1k has to be done at low revs. I have broken engines and I have not managed anyware close to that kind of tyre torture. Impressive!

Very slightly off topic - are the AD07s really that much better (on an early S2, so 750kg) than the OEM Bridgestones? After all, unlike the Pzeros on the S1s, they were developed with Lotus for the car.
I'm just coming up to service time, and wondering whether to go for a set of AD07s or just to replace my front Bridgestones (the rears are fine). I do a few track days a year as well as weekend road stuff.
Appreciate any direct comparisons...

Mine got to 15,000 miles on the first set of rears, although couldn't comment on the first couple of owners' driving styles. Not much fun to drive when the backs are shot though - wheelspin in 3rd in the damp...

I was running AD07's on my old S2 (760KG K-Series) and fond the AD07's to be much better than Bridgestone. Also was amazed at how much better riding the new set were when replaced for worn ones that were down to their wear indicators. I used to get 23K from the fronts and about 15K from the rears and this included trackdays. The wear rate and performance of AD07's are excellent. I am now running AO48 on my heavier Elise SC and have almost written off a set of rears in 2K miles, but boy these tyres are almost un-stickable!!!
