The majority of the Exige's bodywork is made up of the front and rear clam shells. There's a removable roof section, though most owners tend to run with this in place to retain the car's miniature Group C racer looks. A rear wing contributes downforce at higher speeds and helps with the car's superb handling.
As the bodywork is made from fibreglass, you need to look for spider cracks in the surface that indicate damage underneath. Unless the cracks are very large, they should not be a great worry as they can be repaired and the car repainted. Be wary of any Exige with a vinyl wrap or too many add-on stripes as they might be hiding more significant damage.
Stone chips are common on the front of the car, so don't get too upset but do budget for a respray if you want the car to look its best. A fastidious owner will have taken care of this before selling.
The front indicators are held in by small plastic tabs that break easily and allow the lights to flap unsecured. The simple fix is to refit them using some silicone adhesive.
PHer's view
"Speed bumps are a nightmare and the rear view mirror is useless. Then there's the anxiety of people damaging the car when it's parked that causes worries about the clam shells. But it's still an amazing car."
