I've owned my Chimaera for two years now. The myth about TVR's being unreliable is, in my experience, just that. My car has been no worse than any other car of its age might be.

If I sell it will only be to buy a 5.0.

My old man had one of these when he switched from Porsche ownership.
Gotta say it was a great car which handles/sounded lovely. Stick with the Rover V8 rather TVR's own, lot less troublesome if not quite as quick.;-)

Its a great dry weather car.
In the wet it is very easy to loose it.
When buying check for a damp carpet behind the seats, as the roof seal can leak.

Cons: Imprezas will leave you for dead in the twisties, so-so build quality, poor ride

Drop dead looks,v ery practical and very easy to drive. I am getting on a bit and have owned many great cars. E Type Jags, Morgans, Porsches, Mercs, Lotus etc. The Chimaera rates highly against any.

Ok, so where do I start? Firstly my Chimaera is 'only' a 4.0HC so effectively the second slowest model in the TVR range for several years. But dont let this cloud the issue. This is one serious motor car that should never be underestimated.

Well it was either the Chimaera or a V8S.. For 12k you get a good looking, and very fast car that turns heads and sounds great.. Plus, on the road only you know its a 4l not a 4.3 or a 5l and its quicker than 95% of all the other cars out there..

The stunning but simple looks, uncluttered by 'artistic'detail found on so many modern cars coupled with the glorious bellow of the V8 and the sumptuous one-of-a-kind interiors make the Chimaera stand out in all company.

Have owned one for 4 years, wonderful car - my pride & joy.

No major problems, servicing is unreasonably expensive, reliability still gives me the occasional concern.

Drive with caution, these are serious cars and a league apart from Z3...

The 4 litre Chimaera is a great car.

The handling is ok, but it's no Elise. Care is needed in the wet and the feedback through the steerign isn't particularly finely tuned.

After hankering over a TVR for an age, I finally took the plunge and bought a 95' 4.0 Chimeara. Never disappoints me, and in 1 year of ownership nothing has broken or fallen off - simply amazing car.

Having clocked 106,000 miles on my '96 Chim 400, each drive is still an excellent, thrilling experience. Would'nt have any other car near me for the fun that you get from having a TVR.
