Chimaera 400

The entry level car in the Chimaera range was the entry point to TVR ownership for many.

The four litre Chimaera sold in droves to an enthusiastic audience seeking sports car thrills, roof off action and that gorgeous exhaust note.

The Chimaera was introduced in 1992 to provide similar thrills to the Griffith, but with a larger boot. That boot is cavernous and makes the Chimaera extremely practical for a sports car. Never mind the nonsense about golf clubs - you can get a body in there!

TVR claim 240bhp for the four litre. It's certainly quick - thanks to plenty of torque it can reach 60mph in under five seconds.

I've owned my Chimaera for two years now. The myth about TVR's being unreliable is, in my experience, just that. My car has been no worse than any other car of its age might be.

If I sell it will only be to buy a 5.0.
