Overview

The Z4 is a car equally at home barreling along the Autobahn as it is scurrying up an alpine pass. It’s the kind of car you can drive to work in, then set off on a cross-continental adventure without batting an eyelid. The smooth thrum of that straight-six engine accompanying you as you chew up the miles. And 262 horses at the beck and call of your right foot will provide plenty of fun along the way.

This coupé example provides enough luggage space for two normal holidaymakers, or the weekly shop, or precisely 10.1 cubic feet of whatever else you feel the need to transport that day. And you won’t notice all this behind the luxurious beige leather interior, while you’re blasting out tunes from the CD player - it’s 2007, remember.

Overall, this example has had plenty of servicing carried out over the years, to ensure it’s ready for its next 100k miles. Sensibly, this mechanical maintenance has taken precedence over cosmetic repairs, so there are a few small chips and scratches. But this just means you’ll be happy parking this BMW in the supermarket carpark without worrying about the carelessness of others. It still looks great, with its humungous bonnet and fastback styling, and you can sleep easily at night knowing that you’ve got yourself a service booklet bulging with delicious stamps.

Interior

• The beige leather interior still looks very clean and tidy. It has lasted well and is presentable 
• Brushed aluminium dashboard featuring the original radio/CD player
• Automatic climate control, which the vendor tells us is very powerful
• Two large gauges sit in front of the driver
• Rear parking sensors 
• There is some slight sagging to the leather on the door cards
• The driver’s seat bolster shows a little wear, as usual, but no rips or tears
• The seats are electronically adjustable, with memory functions 
• Matching beige carpets in good condition, with a set of black overmats fitted for everyday use 
• The only issue reported is that the driver’s cup holder is broken
• To the rear, the spacious boot is clean and tidy, and retains its original load cover 
• The original tools and first aid kit remain with the car, along with the tyre pump and puncture kit

Exterior

• E86 coupé body combines sporting styling with all the practicalities of a solid roof  
• Finished in an attractive shade of ‘Midnight Blue Metallic’ - Nachtblau Metallic (453)
• The vendor reports that the car is free from any significant corrosion, and that the paint is original 
• There are a few small dings and scratches in the bodywork, including a tiny dent on the roof, a few light scratches above passenger door window, a small dent with lightly scuffed paint towards top of rear left wing, and a few small stone chips on the bonnet
• An unused Chipex paint repair kit is included in the sale 
• There is an unobtrusive crack in the right-hand brake lamp lens 
• The wheels look generally presentable, but there are a few signs of bubbling which the next owner may wish to treat 
• They are shod in a set of Pirelli P Zero tyres which have covered around 8,000 miles since being fitted
• From what we can see, the underside of the car looks clean and tidy, with the usual amount of surface corrosion for a car of this age 

Mechanical

• 2,996cc, six-cylinder petrol engine produces 262hp
• Six speed manual transmission 
• Top speed of 155mph 
• 0-60 in 5.7 seconds 
• During the car’s recent servicing in March 2024 it received a fresh MOT, oil change, oil and air filters, and spark plugs
• During this work, it was noted that there is a slight leak from the cam cover, and there is slight corrosion to the nearside rear brake pipe
• In August 2022 the gearbox oil was changed
• Battery replaced in March 2022
• The front suspension wishbones were upgraded to ‘Super Pro’ items in 2019

Summary
