Overview
If your car has a chrome-plated trident on its front grille, and is painted in a colour called Nettuno, then you’re entitled to feel like Neptune, god of the sea, as you pilot your luxurious four-door saloon along the road. Such is the experience of driving this Maserati Quattroporte. It exudes stately charm, and would probably be the kind of car Neptune himself would choose if he were to make an appearance on the highway. He’d have an octopus for a chauffeur, and would approve of the eight-cylinder engine under the bonnet.
This Ferrari V8 is mounted just behind the front axle, allowing for a central weight distribution. It produces 390 bhp and feeds this to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. And when you feel the need to take a little more control yourself, there are paddle shifters behind the steering wheel, which could presumably be operated by tentacle.
The cream leather upholstery remains sumptuous and remarkably clean. It has clearly been well cared for, and hasn’t seen many grubby fingers or clumsily eaten chocolate ice creams. Do Roman gods eat ice cream?
So if you’re looking for a suave way to get from A to B, especially if you have a habit of carrying a trident around with you, then this Quattroporte is a tempting choice.
