Overview

What do you do when five litres of supercharged V8 aren’t enough to satisfy your stringent requirements? Well the obvious answer is to phone up the engineers at Overfinch and tell them you want one of their even more supercharged V8s. So the resulting 552 bhp monster is what arrives on your driveway, ready to storm both motorways and mountains.

This particular example was delivered in 2014 and has only covered 80,000 miles since then. It was trimmed in black leather with contrasting stitching, and features snazzy veneered trim pieces. All the luxurious features of the period are present, with quad-zone climate control, touch-screen infotainment, and comfortable rear seats.

And on top of all this, it can take all this luxury up a mountain or a muddy track, should the need arise. Terrain such as this is made all the easier by the selectable driving modes such as ‘hill gradient release acceleration descent control’ and the like, which can even be left to the car to decide the best choice for the conditions. So you might not even notice the change as you go from three-lane highway, to winding B-road, to country lane, to farm track, to rolling moorland.

In all this is a very desirable example of an Overfinch L405. It takes the already-high performance of a five-litre petrol V8 and adds a whole heap more to the experience. This is a car for those who enjoy knowing that they’re sitting at the summit, both literally and figuratively.

Mechanical

• Overfinch upgraded the standard Range Rover’s supercharger, exhaust, and remapped the ECU
• All these upgrades mean it produces 552 bhp
• Top speed 155 mph, 0-62 mph in 5.1 seconds (standard non-Overfinch models)
• Eight-speed automatic transmission
• Selectable four-wheel drive system with terrain modes
• Engine bay clean and tidy
• There is a little surface corrosion on some of the suspension components
• In Jan 2024 the car received a new active cornering pipe set, transmission fluid, forward speed sensor
• The main battery was replaced in Feb 2025
• The nearside rear brake calliper was replaced in Dec 2012
• In Mar 2022 all four brake discs, pads, and sensors were replaced, along with a new lower suspension arm
• The only current MOT advisory is for an ‘oil leak, but not excessive’
