Purchased new in 1998 by the late World Rally Champion Richard Burns during his time with Mitsubishi WRC. His move to Subaru for the 1999 season meant the Evo was soon placed into storage, eventually joining rally cars in his personal collection. This incredible Mitsubishi Evolution V GSR has covered just 793 miles since it left the Nagoya factory in Japan and is sure to be a total one-of-a-kind due to its owner and provenance. Until very recently the car remained in a private collection alongside WRC competition stable mates, but in the past 12 months the Evo has received an extensive but sympathetic restoration to bring it back to its factory condition. This recommission included a full strip down followed by a thorough underside clean up and treatment, all underside components refreshed or replaced, a full fluid service using OE parts a cambelt replacement, tie rods & ends, bushes, spark plugs, filters, auxiliary drive belt, brake lines and refurbished brake calipers. The Evo V is mentioned in Richard Burns' own book 'Driving Ambition' and has featured in a variety of documentary videos and magazine articles. The original rear-view-mirror hanger from the supplying dealer in 1999 is also documented with Richard's name on. The Pyrenees black pearl coachwork has also been professionally refined to remove swirl marks and blemishes accumulated over the past 23 years.
