Rolls Royce Silver Cloud, James Young
Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 1, James Young
For the Silver Cloud I chassis, James Young offered a completely new design, named SC10, to compete with the standard steel saloon from Rolls-Royce. Despite a certain initial similarity to the Rolls-Royce offering, a more detailed inspection reveals typical James Young details such as the gentle wing treatment and square push buttons of the door handles. On the first cars small rear fins on top of the wings were adopted. After two small batches of these bodies, the success of the standard steel saloon decreed the end of this design, forcing James Young to specialise its production on the long wheelbase and Continental chassis.
Only 24 design no sc10 were built, with 21 RHD and 3 LHD.
The car comes complete with a magnificent beige original interior with deep pile carpets, the facia and window surrounds are superbly matched with polished walnut.
Both the driver and passengers are treated to luxury, despite the steering column not being adjustable, it is well suited for all drivers.
The vehicle has power steering as well as other luxuries including air conditioning and automatic transmission.
After undergoing a full restoration with Fiennes Restorers, additional work has been carried out by Clark & Carter restoration to keep the vehicle in top running order.
