1985 BMW M635 CSi

The flagship of the BMW Motorsport range and now an iconic model featuring that beautiful 6 Series coupe body and the six cylinder 24 valve straight six engine from the M1 producing 286 bhp, close ratio 5 speed manual gearbox along with many chassis modifications, larger brakes, revised suspension and a limited slip differential. I well remember reading Mel Nichols extended road test of the M6 for Car Magazine and revelling in its sheer grand tourer perfection at the time.

This completely original example is one of just 522 examples supplied new to the UK market and it must be one of the nicest, in excellent order with just 54,000 miles covered in the hands of four owners and a full service history.

Finished in Alpine White the car is well specified with the desirable factory options including full black leather interior, air conditioning, electric sunroof and tinted glass.

It was supplied when new on the 19 September 1985 by BMW dealer H E Averill & Sons Ltd in Norwich as stamped in the original service booklet on file. The essential running in service was completed by them at 1,224 miles, also stamped in the service book. On the 15 August 1986 the supplying dealer serviced the car at 1,921 miles, again stamped.

After eighteen months of ownership the first owner sold the car to LMT Garages, the BMW main dealer in Cardiff. They sold the car at that point with 5,000 miles covered to the second owner who clearly loved it as he retained it until 2016, increasing the mileage to 51,000 miles during his tenure. He clearly looked after the car, servicing it each year with the BMW dealer in Cardiff until 2004 when it continued to be maintained with a specialist who knew this car well having previously worked at the Cardiff main dealer.

In 2016 a marque enthusiast based in Newmarket bought the car and used it minimally, increasing the mileage to just 53,100 miles before selling it in 2019 to BMW specialists Hexagon Classics. They inspected and fully serviced the car before selling it to a regular Hairpin customer with the highest standards.

The originality of this car makes it truly special, the paintwork, trim indeed every aspect of the car is untouched and it drives accordingly with a fluency and tightness one only finds in a well maintained original car. A recent inspection by M car guru Darragh at Everything M3 confirms how nice it is, he was truly astounded at how well it has been preserved, a real testament to its limited use and care by each owner.

It comes with the complete set of books including the above-mentioned fully stamped service book in the correct BMW wallet, MOT history, complete boot lid mounted toolkit, rechargeable torch and first aid kit.
