2010 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti OTO HGT2
There was a time when a front-engined V12 Ferrari was the definitive way to cross continents at speed. The 612 Scaglietti, launched in 2004, was Maranello’s attempt to modernise that formula. Designed by Pininfarina its styling split opinions, much like its price tag might’ve split your bank account.
More than just a fast GT, the 612 is a true four-seater, making it Ferrari’s most useable V12 of the era, continuing the mantle from the 456. Production ran from 2004 until 2011, however, in 2008, the model was made available exclusively through the One-to-one special order program.
Supplied new by Maranello Egham in May 2010 - this example is one of those ‘OTO’ special order cars. It was ordered in an exceedingly tasteful specification of Nero Daytona over a Tan interior.
The paintwork is in excellent condition, the deep shine complementing the cars long elegant lines. As a car equipped with the HGT2 package, the car benefits from a set of 20” Challenge style wheels. Whils they look nearly identical to the wheels supplied on the iconic 360 CS, they’re actually an inch larger. The wheels were refurbished in late 2022 at H.R. Owen South London.
The 612 is a true grand-tourer, so it’s no surprise that the interior is an incredibly special place to be. The overwhelming majority of the contact surfaces are trimmed in a tan hide. The seats, which are adorned with Cavallini in the headrests, are in excellent condition and show little to no wear.
The rear seats offer equally as much support as the front, with large bolsters to hug passengers tight. Despite being the big GT, the steering wheel still includes the Mannetino switch, reminding you that should deem it necessary, you can let the horses run free. The whole cabin is flooded with by panoramic glass roof, though it features a clever system to tint and lighten at the push of a button.
Under the bonnet is a 5.7-litre V12, an engine borrowed from the 575 Superamerica. It produces an envious 533bhp and 434 ft-lbs of torque. That power is managed by an upgraded F1A gearbox, a significant improvement over the original F1 gearbox. It is a magnificent engine both in use and visually, with crackle-finished red intake manifolds it is arguably as beautiful as the exterior styling.
Despite being a 15-year-old car, the 612 is a deeply technical car and therefore requires adequate maintenance to ensure it continues to operate as it did on the day it left Maranello. Thankfully, despite this car's exceptionally low mileage, it has been maintained with no expense spared.
The service history shows that over £18,000 has been spent exclusively on maintenance, the records show:
02/2024 - 17,712 miles - Annual Service - H.R. Owen
12/2022 - 17,793 miles - Annual Service & Wheel Refurbishment - H.R. Owen
01/2022 - 17,712 miles - Annual Service - Meridien Modena
08/2020 - 12,856 miles - Annual Service, Cambelts & Aux Belts - Joe Macari Ltd
04/2018 - 12,739 miles - Annual Service - Dick Lovett
12/2017 - 12,179 miles - Annual Service - Stratstone Wilmslow
10/2012 - 8,818 miles - Annual Service - Maranello Egham
08/2011 - 5,173 miles - Annual Service - Maranello Egham
Today, the 612 remains as impressive as it was at launch, but time has been especially kind to its once divisive styling. What once was the kindling for a fiery argument between enthusiasts is now considered effortlessly elegant.
More importantly, the naturally aspirated V12 is something to be savoured, like a glass of the finest Italian wine. As Ferrari and other manufacturers are forced towards hybridisation and electrification, the 612 stands as a reminder of what we might not have realised at the time, was the golden age of motoring.
As with all our vehicles, a full digital folder is available on request containing more images, walk-around videos, and scans of the service history. The car can also be viewed by appointment at our West London showroom.
