Overview

Allowing Mini enthusiasts the ability to retain their brand loyalty even when life demands more practicality, Mini launched the Countryman in 2010 as the production model of the Mini Crossover Concept, blending practicality with impressive driving characteristics and performance in the case of the S and JCW models.

As well as a larger and more accommodating bodyshell, the Countryman also had the option of the ALL4 four-wheel drive system, providing extra on-road security and even a little off-road ability given the higher ride height. For the keener driver, it was also available with a six-speed manual ‘box, as we see here.

This particular example was purchased new by the seller from Spire Mini of Watford, and has covered just shy of 70,000 miles during his ownership. With a few choice upgrades including a Quicksilver exhaust, this example represents a great balance between driving enjoyment (with a fruity exhaust note) with the practicality offered by a five-door crossover.

  • The interior presents in excellent condition throughout, and remains unmodified

  • Both front seats are free from any heavy bolster wear or damage, though the base of the passenger seat exhibits some staining

  • The car was specified with a number of convenience features, including keyless entry, a heated windscreen and heated seats
  • Harmon / Kardon sound system

  • The rear seats are in very good condition with only some small signs of wear to the bases

  • There are a few small marks and signs of use on the door cards and door sill plastic covers

  • We noted a small stain above the nearside B pillar on the headliner

  • In the boot, the plastic trims are scratched in a number of places from use, whilst the rears of the back seats also show signs of wear

  • The OE stereo and navigation system remain in place

  • The seller states that the heater system “occasionally blows warmer than expected, but it has not been troublesome enough to warrant further investigation”

Exterior

  • As per the cabin, the bodywork and exterior of this Countryman ALL4 remains in remarkably good condition for a car of this age, no doubt helped by having only one owner from new and a relatively low mileage

  • The front end, mirror caps and the A pillar / C pillar trims exhibit some stone chips and light imperfections

  • The black plastic trims on the front wings exhibit some UV damage and fading

  • All four wheels are kerbed, most noticeably on the offside rear wheel

  • The correct Pirelli P7 Cinurato run-flat tyres are fitted, with the front tyres replaced in June 2024

  • There is a small chip on the windscreen, though this has reportedly been filled and has not caused any further issues

  • At the rear, there is a small scuff in the centre of the lower black diffuser

  • Both exhaust tips are showing signs of corrosion

Mechanical

  • 1.6-litre inline-four turbocharged engine with 187bhp, sending power to all four wheels through a six-speed manual transmission

  • Full Mini main dealer service history

  • Under the bonnet looks to be in fair condition, though it would benefit from the attention of a detailer to bring it back to its best

  • K&N air intake

  • Upgraded EBC grooved brake discs with ‘Green Stuff’ brake pads all-round

  • We noted some misting or historic staining around the oil filler on the engine cover

  • A full Quicksilver stainless steel exhaust system was fitted in 2016 and was replaced in 2021 as part of Quicksilver’s lifetime guarantee

  • No reported faults or issues, nor any illuminated warning lights

Summary

This is a fine, one-owner example of the all-weather Countryman S ALL4, boasting a strong factory specification and a relatively low mileage. With a full Mini service history, practical interior and a few considered upgrades including a full Quicksilver stainless-steel exhaust, this really is a car that lets you have your cake AND eat it.
