Until the whole passive investing mantra implodes but that's another story I suppose

Today I watched some of Savagegeese’s content. Not a Youtuber as such, just a channel. I likes it. Informative. Especially like the in the garage content. Seeing underneath the cars. He also puts in manufacturer tech clips.
Very few of the new crop go into any technical detail.
Yes, he is very underrated imo - love his content.

No so much passive investing imploding as people finding out that these 10-12% returns weren't risk free!

In TGE's video he claims he has access to investment funds which do 10-12% https://youtu.be/q5vsK_fUcGw?t=1409

What funds are these?
No, he really doesn’t.
Why would he not? Anyone with money can sign up to and investment platform like HL and access funds with growth like that.
The point is he was not talking about himself, although yes he would have the same access to funds as anyone else.

TGE said:
And people say why do you finance your car, why don’t you cash buy?

Well actually, and I don’t, but if you had a million pounds sat in the bank and you wanted a car for 300k, 400k, whatever it is, and you can put that million pounds in to a fund that’s making 10%, 12% a year or if you’re really smart more than that…
It was entirely hypothetical chat answering the question of why people who are cash rich finance. He specifically stated, that was not his situation / he was not talking about himself. Going on to talk about it’s better to preserve some cash flow, have a bit of cash left in the bank and also stating he couldn’t afford to cash buy everything anyway.

Global Equity funds have done very well since 2015, also don't forget the drop in the pound that amplifies returns. So, if TGE has invested in Global Equity he certainly can cover financing and depreciating costs with the profits from the funds (assuming he sells some of them from time to time). That said, nobody will know until he shows the details.

In the lower ranks of YouTube we currently have lee lockwood alienating his subscribers by saying he is only going to put some of his content on YouTube for his 63k subscribers, and show most of it on patreon for his 130 subscribers. Great way to grow a channel. Forcing people to pay if they want to see his poor content smells a bit scammy to me.

His best mate jeese collingham who apparently quit his job and is now doing YouTube full time, and b7 tmy who click baited everyone into thinking he had quit his job, when in reality he has just gone part time. They're mad to think that with such low subscriber numbers that they can currently make a living from it, let alone a sensible one. Seems to be the way of the small YouTuber at the moment though.

I've been doing it "full time" since day one, although I built myself up a nest egg from a previous job in order to fund the first couple of years which I knew would not bring in decent income.

This month I can honestly say I have actually made money from YT but it has taken a lot of effort to get here. I want money from it and my perspective was always why should I earn full time money from less than full time hours?

Mr Lockwood's decision to focus on his Patreon I feel is an unwise one, and his reasoning makes no sense to me. He claims copyright issues but that has never afflicted me, I dont subscribe to his Patreon so that may explain it better.

Maybe we’re underestimating the merch value of his stylish range of branded urban fashion and stickers.

Ah, but you are intelligent, and we do not need a translator to understand what you're saying hehe

I don't get this Lockwood bloke. I watched 1 video and thought what is this tripe, its as bad as me attempting to do you tube. Is he still doing that naked butler work on the side also?

He is shooting himself in the foot as he wont get much from patreon only. As for the other 2 trying to live off lockwoods "fame"? I think lockwood got most of his subs from when he was seeing that girl who got drunk and crashed a few cars at a Vw show and then she won a trophy. Basically all trolls

It's all car crash YT, and I find it amusing. I do not revel in people's down fall, but their naivety is astounding. lockwood is going to fall down to earth with a bump.

collingham is a poor man's lockwood, which is very poor.

b7 tmy, no words can explain.

The stuff he did with the clio was ok but it’s been done already by road and race?

It's all same same. With his Evo it is a case of wrap, remove wrap, wrap, remove wrap, wrap. It's been wrapped 3 times in less than a year. Paint work underneath is fked now though.

Not many of the smaller channels do anything unique. JayEmm is about the only one who does. I may be a little biased though.

Strange to be so amused at someone else's loss.

Not strange for pistonheads.
