It’s said that in the middle of the 20th century, the first mechanical object to be seen by two thirds of the world’s population was a Land Rover. Considering that back then it was the go-to option for explorers, adventurers and those who live in hard to reach areas, this claim seems entirely feasible.
These days, a fairly significant number of original Land Rovers are kept within the safe and spotless confines of a car collection, or at the very least, restricted to use on urban streets. But a lucky few remain in use as they were originally intended; like this one, which is owned by Califonia-based motoring journalist Basem Wasef.
Wasef has bitten the Land Rover bug with his 1963 Series IIA, describing it as part of the family. But he appreciates what this crude and honest vehicle is about and so ensures that it is no stranger to getting mucky, as demonstrated in Petrolicious’s beautifully shot video.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of this 65-year-old off-roader as it basks in the Californian sunlight.
