As
with any performance car marque, outside of the main dealer network there are
the specialists that have got to know the cars and provide a steady supply of
used cars to an eager market. One such specialist in the world of TVRs is Adrian
Blyth Specialist Cars. Adrian's been selling used TVRs for a number of years now
(and Porsches before that), taking in cars from all around the country to put on
display in his showroom in Grayshott, just off the A3.
We visited Adrian to take a look-see at his showroom and check out what sets
him apart from the competition. He deals with TVRs from the S and Wedge
through a regular stock of Griffiths and Chimaeras up to the occasional Tuscan
or Cerbera. It's the Chimaeras and Griffiths that form the staple diet for
buyers though. With competitive pricing he's keeping many of the main dealers on
their toes.
Obviously if you're not buying from a main dealer the usual concerns are
about the quality of the car and what come-back you'll have in terms of warranty
etc. Warranties are available with ABSC providing the first three months of
cover out of their own funds. With that in mind, Adrian is obviously careful
about the cars he takes in and is quite fastidious about their preparation. Many
cars have their front ends resprayed to rid them of stone chip damage and he now
has a full time valeter doing the business on the insides. Under the covers,
local TVR specialist David Batty inspects and sorts any matters mechanical.
Longer warranties and financing are available, you only have to ask!
Being a small and specialised outfit, you'll find Adrian himself in the
showroom should you visit, and you'll be sure to receive a friendly, informed
and relaxed welcome. ABSC has grown in recent years in line with the popularity
of the marque and I suspect it will continue to do so given how easy it is to
buy a car from Adrian (me included!)
