We're still waiting to hear from SEAT on
this Performance Pack
the Cupra 280
to score that first sub-eight 'ring lap for an FWD car. The pack you can't actually buy yet.
A bit of Cava-style fizz for your diesel Leon
You can, however, make your Leon look capable of such feats thanks to a new official retrofit Sports Styling Kit. SEAT has previous here of course, the K1 kit offered on the previous Leon Cupra catering to those wanting a little more attitude from their SEAT but wanting to maintain the seal of official approval.
In the case of the new Leon it handily answers criticisms that the new car, slick as it is, has perhaps got a little too grown-up and Audified. There's nothing wrong with that but if you want a car that looks like an Audi you're probably best off buying ... an Audi. Leaving SEAT to do what it's always done and appeal to those who want something a little more vibrant and eye catching. If that's you you're able to pick and choose elements from this package as required, SEAT claiming all parts work in isolation as well as a complete set.
A Cup Racer kit for the Leon? Yes please!
The front bumper is £1,500, the rear bumper £975, the roof spoiler £399, skirts £645, exhaust £480 and 19-inch wheels £999 with all prices including painting and fitting at an official dealer. As it stands you can apply it to any non-Cupra Leon you fancy, five-door or SC. As a way of spicing up a diesel FR 185 like the one pictured - whisper it - it kind of works.
Leaving us in the slightly odd position of kitted-up standard Leons actually looking rather more feisty than the full fat Cupra; here's hoping for a properly mad looking K1-style kit for that car perhaps inspired by that lovely looking Cup Racer shown alongside the road car at Geneva. In for a penny!
