Le Mans winner Stéphane Ortelli will be testing an official Porsche Cars GT3 Cup car at the first official championship test day for the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain at Snetterton, on Wednesday 19th March. The Internationally renowned star will be on hand to set a benchmark time and offer advice to new Carrera Cup competitors.
Ortelli, the current Porsche Supercup champion and 1998 Le Mans winner, is a renowned Porsche expert. His presence at the test day will allow teams and drivers to gauge themselves against a driver who is widely regarded as one of the fastest 911 racers in the world.
"It is great news to have last year's Supercup champion at the Carrera Cup GB test day," said Andy Goss, MD of Porsche Cars Great Britain. "Stéphane will be a tremendous performance benchmark for the drivers and teams. He has such a fantastic history with Porsche, and we are thrilled to run him in our car."
The Snetterton test day will be the first official championship test and will provide the teams with seven hours of open track testing time.
The test will also be of significant importance to the drivers who wish to be chosen to represent the Carrera Cup GB at the British and European Grand Prix Supercup support race. Porsche Cars will select eight drivers to race in front of the Grand Prix crowds just before the start of the Formula One race.
