When family duties come knocking, the first thing to change is normally the car. The fun thing you have put countless hours and large sums of money into is faced with being sold and replaced with something more practical, more fuel efficient and generally a little less interesting.
PHer a7x88 went through that process when he chose to sell his tuned Mazda 6 MPS, as he needed something bigger that was capable of towing a caravan. With a budget of £12,000, it meant AMG, RS and M cars were out of range. But the V10-engined Audi S6 wasn't. After test driving a few saloons he decided that an Avant was for him and the hunt was on.
One was picked up in a discreet colour, fitted with many desirable options. Though not as involving to drive as the Mazda, this PHer is enjoying the torque and, of course, the noise of the engine. The idea is to leave it fairly standard, maybe fit a louder exhaust, service the gearbox and fit a towbar. Congratulations a7x88, your Audi S6 Avant is our Reader's Car of the Week and we are looking forward to keeping up to date with your experiences.
