American tuning company Switzer has released a package for the Porsche 997 Turbo that gives the car a brutal power boost up to 800bhp.
Switzer has previously developed packages for other 997s, but this is the first package for an all-wheel-drive version, and the results are pretty staggering. In a less-than-precise press release, 0-60 is claimed as 'under 3 seconds' and standing quarter-mile times described as 'consistently under 10.5 seconds'.
That vast 320bhp power hike is achieved primarily using a couple of custom GT30 turbochargers, which create so much heat that up-rated intercoolers (a design modestly named the 'MONSTER') are necessary. There is also electronic boost control to manage these beasties, along with a 'competition-style' exhaust and headers, and an ECU remap to acknowledge all this extra grunt. There is also a carbon clutch available, which is probably quite handy here...
The 'L5 Package' is currently only available in the States and is not yet priced up on Switzer's website, but the package one-notch below comes in at $20,995 USD (£12,394), so we're talking pretty hefty sums here - but it really is an awful lot of extra power.
Switzer also does two performance packages for the Nissan GTR, one of which is called the 'Track Day' package, and it brings the new 'Godzilla' up to the same magic number of 800bhp.
But which would be quickest? Now that is a race we'd like to see...
