One side effect of the impending New Year is the sudden prevalence of 'top' lists. The top 10, 50 or 100 of everything to have been thought, said, broadcast or manufactured in the past year is thrust upon us, often in an order seemingly selected by people with tastes vertically opposed to our own.
When that list is limited to just five cars, however, it might just be slightly more bearable. And when those five cars are historic Porsche rally machines not just from the last 12 months, but from throughout the manufacturer's storied off-road racing history, you've earnt six minutes and 43 seconds of our attention.
Hosted by "the man, the legend, Valter Wurrwl" - or Walter Rohrl, as you may know him - today's Time for Coffee sees the iconic driver reflecting on cars including the 911 Paris Dakar, Cayenne S Trans-Siberia, 924 Carrera GTS, 911 SC Safari and 996 GT3. Only the 959's absence prevents it from being a comprehensive list, really, as Rohrl explains each car's heritage and recalls his own favourite memories.
So prepare your morning brew and get a little bit closer to the weekend in the company of some of Porsche's greatest racers - however overshadowed by the company's track-dominating monsters they may have been.
